Clément Champion joins Bindbridge as Chief Scientific Officer

We are delighted to welcome Clément Champion as Chief Scientific Officer at Bindbridge.

Clément brings deep experience across plant science, molecular discovery and agricultural R&D, alongside a track record of building scientific teams and translating new discovery approaches into R&D programmes.

As co-founder and CSO of MoA Technology, Clément led biology R&D from incorporation to 2021 and helped generate and protect its foundational intellectual property. He co-conceived and delivered two screening platforms: one for herbicide resistance gene discovery, one for rapidly exploring new modes of action, and recruited and led the scientific teams that brought them into practice.

Most recently, Clément was Deputy Scientific Director at Groupe Roullier, an international group specialising in plant, soil, and animal nutrition. There he structured and coordinated customer-oriented research programmes, led an international network of nine R&D managers running field trials, and oversaw crop nutrition projects across research, regulatory, marketing, manufacturing and supply. He also advises several venture-backed startups on scientific strategy.

Clément holds a PhD in Plant Sciences from the University of Oxford, where his research uncovered genetic mechanisms controlling plant growth and led to a new bioinformatics method for mutation discovery. He holds two international patents and has published nine peer-reviewed articles in journals including PNAS, New Phytologist and Current Biology.

At Bindbridge, Clément will lead our scientific team and set scientific strategy across our molecular glue discovery programmes, from target selection through to experimental validation. Working closely with our engineering team and commercial partners, he will connect computational design with experimental biology, ensuring that experimental evidence continuously informs the next design cycle.

“Clément has a rare combination of deep plant science, discovery experience and company building,” said George Crane, co-founder and CEO of Bindbridge. “He has taken new scientific ideas and turned them into working discovery platforms, while building the teams needed to deliver them. That is exactly the experience we need as we advance our molecular glue programmes.”
“The most exciting discovery platforms bring biology, chemistry and computation together around the right scientific questions,” said Clément Champion. “Bindbridge has an exciting opportunity to apply that approach to molecular glues for agriculture, and I’m excited to help build the science and advance programmes that address real crop-protection needs.”

We look forward to the work ahead with Clément.

Bindbridge discovers and designs molecular glues using AI to develop safer, more effective crop protection with novel mode of action against weeds and crop diseases. Bindbridge, founded 2025 in Cambridge, UK, builds the world leading AI for targeted protein degradation in plants to strengthen global food security and reduce environmental impacts of agriculture.
